Despite not really getting more training in this past week I feel much better about it. This is because I followed the planned program Monday to Saturday and only failed on Sunday because of family commitments. This does mean that I have still not even attempted a long run yet. I am going to have to find a way to sneak out early on a Sunday or this is going to become a trend.
I have been feeling fantastic on my runs and after. I remember reading in the Lore of Running that during the base phase you should always feel as though you could do your runs again, right away if needed. This is how I have been feeling. It is becoming a major source of energy for me through the day too.
One metric that is not reflecting this yet is my heart rate during runs. I am still running with my heart rate higher than I would like. Last week I let this slide and focussed a bit more on feel. This week will focus more on seeing some improvement in my heart rate at current paces.
I have also subscribed to Training Peaks as I enjoyed the Performance Management metrics. They confirm that my training is extremely easy and suggest that I should be adding load for optimal training. I imagine that actually doing a long run and adding a few kms to one other run will put me into the optimal zone.
Plan for this week is the same as last again. Mid 60kms for the week with one long run of around 18kms. All feeling relaxed and easy aiming for average heart rates below 150bpm.
